Congratulations to Tone Kristin Bjordam, Norway, who yet again became the Public's Choice. Visitors to the exhibition have had the opportunity to vote for their favourite artist. As in Copenhagen, Reykjavik, Stockholm and Oslo, Bjordam's work enchanted visitors. The Public's Choice was announced 12 January during a late night at Kunsthalle Helsinki in conjunction with the seminar "Sound and Vision" and the Artist Talk with Seppo Renvall.
In Tone Kristin Bjordam's work Coral we are captivated as viewers by what can best be described as moving abstract painting with allusions to both traditional romantic, atmospheric painting and chemical processes. With seductive imagery in a meditative pace, we are faced with cascades of colour that slowly appear to assume the shape of organic forms such as plants, smoke, clouds, explosions or, as the title suggests, corals.
