The motifs in Karin Mamma Andersson’s narrative paintings have for long periods been characterised by Nordic nature with features from sagas and myths. In recent years, however, landscapes have given way to interiors, albeit with traces of nature in one form or another. Her works incorporate complex references to art history and to contemporary media culture, as well as to her own personal experiences. The carefully worded titles add yet another dimension to the narrative aspect of her paintings. Karin Mamma Andersson participated in the Carnegie Art Award 1998 and 2000.
