Gunnar J. Árnason

Lecturer, Iceland Academy of the Arts and art critic

Gunnar J. Árnason was born in Reykjavik in 1959. He studied philosophy and aesthetics at the University of Iceland and Cambridge University. Since 1990, he has lectured in philosophy, aesthetics and art theory at the Icelandic Academy of the Arts. Árnason has been an art critic for newspapers, journals and the Icelandic National Radio. He contributes to art journals, magazines and catalogues in Iceland and abroad, and has written extensively on Icelandic art. Árnason is one of the authors of a forthcoming book on the history of Icelandic art.
