Born 1975 in Porsgrunn, Norway. Lives in Oslo, NO.
Although Tone Kristin Bjordam devotes herself mainly to photography and video art, her works bear distinct references to painting as a medium. She engages in an exploration of the impact of science and nature on mankind, and formulates this in both figurative and abstract images. For some years, she has been working on visualising the movement and progression of liquid colour in fluids. In the work Coral we are captivated as viewers by what can best be described as moving abstract painting with allusions to both traditional romantic, atmospheric painting and chemical processes. With seductive imagery in a meditative pace, we are faced with cascades of colour that slowly appear to assume the shape of organic forms such as plants, smoke, clouds, explosions or, as the title suggests, corals.
