During the jurys' second meeting in Stockholm they select the four artists who will receive the Carnegie Art Award. The prizes are awarded for the works in the exhibition. The winner of the first prize receives SEK 1,000,000, the winner of the second prize receives SEK 600,000, and the winner of the third prize receives SEK 400,000. A young artist is awarded a scholarship of SEK 100,000. The award ceremony takes place in connection with the inauguration of the exhibition, in one of the Nordic capitals.
At the ceremony the four artists also receive the Carnegie Art Award sculpture in diabase made by the artist Jene Highstein, New York, USA. The recipients of the Carnegie Art Award 2008 received the awards during the inauguration of the exhibition at kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen on September 17 2009.
