The Carnegie Art Award 2012 opens in mid-November 2011 in Oslo. The Stenersen Museum is located in central Oslo next to the concert hall. The exhibition will tour to Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen.
With a more stringent selection procedure, with fewer artists showing more works, a greater focus will be put on painting. This year, Finnish artist Heikki Marila’s exuberant floral paintings win the first prize.
Carnegie Art Award has been established by Carnegie Investment Bank to promote Nordic contemporary painting and to recognise and support distinguished artists born or living in the Nordic countries.
